What Skruf snus is
Skruf is a Swedish brand made by Skruf Snus AB. The company was founded in 2002 and has been fully owned by Imperial Brands since 2008. In Sweden, Skruf is also known for traditional tobacco snus. The products in our shop are different: they are tobacco-free nicotine pouches filled with plant fibres, nicotine and flavouring.
Skruf keeps its pouches moderate. The range in our shop goes from 8 to 16.6 mg of nicotine per gram. There are no ultra strong products. That makes Skruf a brand for everyday use, with clear steps in strength and Scandinavian flavours like licorice and cassis.
Skruf nicotine pouches: strength levels S2, S3 and S4
Many Skruf cans carry a strength code in the name. A higher number means more nicotine per gram:
- S2: 8 mg/g. Examples are SKRUF Fresh Mint S2, SKRUF Indigo Berry S2, SKRUF Nordic Liqourice S2 and SKRUF Purple Cassice S2.
- S3: 12 mg/g. Examples are SKRUF Purple Cassice S3 and SKRUF Fresh Mint S3.
- S4: 15 to 16 mg/g. Examples are SKRUF Fresh Mint S4, SKRUF Intense Spearmint Ice S4, SKRUF Intense Peppermint Ice S4 and SKRUF Nordic Liqourice S4.
Two products have no code in the name. SKRUF Fresh Freeze Ultra limited has 16 mg/g, and SKRUF Crystal Fresh Extra Strong has 16.6 mg/g. Both sit at the S4 level or slightly above.
How strong is Skruf snus in practice?
The mg/g value tells you how much nicotine is in one gram of pouch filling. The amount in one pouch also depends on the weight of the pouch. Our data for Skruf shows only mg/g, so we do not state values per pouch.
The mg/g values still make comparison easy. An S4 pouch with 16 mg/g holds twice as much nicotine per gram as an S2 pouch with 8 mg/g. An S3 pouch sits in between. If the pouches are similar in size, the S4 pouch will feel about twice as strong as the S2 pouch.
S2 is a good level if you use nicotine pouches now and then, or if you want a calm pouch for the whole day. S3 and S4 suit you if you already know pouches and want a clearly noticeable effect. Even the strongest Skruf products stay far below brands with 50 mg/g or more.
Skruf snus flavours and formats
The flavours fall into three groups:
- Mint and cooling: SKRUF Fresh Mint S2, SKRUF Fresh Mint S3, SKRUF Fresh Mint S4, SKRUF Intense Spearmint Ice S4, SKRUF Intense Peppermint Ice S4, SKRUF Fresh Freeze Ultra limited and SKRUF Crystal Fresh Extra Strong.
- Berry and cassis: SKRUF Indigo Berry S2, SKRUF Purple Cassice S3 and SKRUF Purple Cassice S2.
- Licorice: SKRUF Nordic Liqourice S2 and SKRUF Nordic Liqourice S4.

Skruf uses two formats. The Slim format is narrow and sits flat under the lip. The Standard format is wider and holds more filling. Most cans contain 20 pouches. SKRUF Fresh Mint S3 is the exception with 24 pouches.

Skruf snus compared with other brands
Skruf vs ZYN
ZYN also uses S codes on many cans, and its range in our shop goes up to S6. ZYN covers 3 to about 23.6 mg/g and comes in Mini and Slim pouches. Skruf stops at S4 and 16.6 mg/g, but it also offers Standard pouches. If you want more strength steps, ZYN gives you more choice. If you want a wider pouch, Skruf is the option.
Skruf vs Helwit
Helwit is another brand with moderate strength. It ranges from 5 to 15 mg/g and also offers a Mini format. If you want a pouch below 8 mg/g, Helwit has lighter options than Skruf.
Which Skruf snus should you choose?
If you are new to nicotine pouches, start with an S2 can. SKRUF Fresh Mint S2 is a simple choice with a familiar mint taste in the Slim format. If you prefer something sweeter, SKRUF Indigo Berry S2 is a good alternative. If you want an even lighter start, look at our light snus collection.
